➤ The sustainable main material: cotton

Cotton is a natural plant fiber that thrives in tropical and subtropical regions and has been used by humans for thousands of years. For our products, we source sustainably harvested cotton from local farmers in Java. The fields are naturally fertilized, and the cotton bolls are hand-selected. After ginning, the cotton is pressed into bales, combed, and hand-spun into yarn. Our cotton is skin-friendly and chemical-free, and therefore not suitable for tumble drying.

➤ The production process: from raw material to finished wall hangings

Each of our handmade wall hangings begins with high-quality cotton, carefully spun into yarn and left in its natural tone or dyed using gentle plant dyes. Skilled artisans then weave the fibers on traditional looms, creating a rich, textured fabric with beautifully balanced patterns. Intricate braids and fringes are added by hand with great precision, giving each piece its distinctive depth and tactile appeal. Finally, the wall hanging is mounted on a sturdy wooden rod and finished with durable cord, making it easy to display wherever you choose.


➤ Our production partners: selected according to fair trade criteria

When selecting our local production partners, we emphasize fair pay, safe working conditions, and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses with a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are all skilled artisans of legal age. Older people, who can no longer work in agriculture, particularly benefit from handicraft jobs, allowing them to use the skills they learned from a young age to earn money and pass on traditional production methods to the younger generation. They have often told us how happy they are to create something meaningful with this work and earn a good living. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates virtually no greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the businesses.
