What basket makers commonly call "seagrass" isn't actually an underwater plant, but a small, palm-like plant found widely on sandy beaches in the tropics of Asia. The leaves of these plants, often cultivated by humans, are separated, shredded, dried, and then processed by hand.

When selecting our local producers, we value fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we source our goods, we employ only mature and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates minimal greenhouse gas emissions.
