The handmade Waigeo basket is a harmonious combination of seagrass at the bottom and woven white cotton ribbons at the top of the basket. This unique material mix gives the round basket an attractive two-tone look. The bright color splashes of the cotton ribbons make it a real eye-catcher that contrasts beautifully with the rest of the interior design in any room.
Because it is very versatile, Waigeo with its practical handles is particularly suitable as a laundry basket or in the bathroom for storing towels, toilet paper or cosmetics. Thanks to its relatively flat shape, it is also ideal for use as a shelf basket, so that you can organize your things in style.

Main material: seagrass
Our baskets are made from plant fibres, so they smell and feel wonderfully of nature.
What is commonly called 'seagrass' by basket makers is not actually an (under)water plant, but a small, palm-like plant that is widespread on sandy beaches in the tropics of Asia. The leaves of the plants, which are often cultivated by humans, are separated, cut into strips, dried and then processed by hand.
Other materials: cotton, nylon thread

Production location:
This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we attach importance to fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we buy our goods, we only work with adult and experienced craftsmen. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
